Dr Victor Filatov - CFO Strategic Biofuels
DR VICTOR FILATOV
Dr. Victor Filatov is the CFO for Strategic Biofuels. He is also a Partner with Oakton Trinity Partners. Victor is responsible for project origination and due diligence for all projects before showing projects to investors, and then working with OTP partners to form an investment opinion. In some cases, OTP may also participant in project development, especially in areas such a Solar PLV, Waste-to-Energy/RNG, and other “biogas” renewable energy projects. Victor is also the co-founder and President of ArcSec Technologies, LLC, a technology company in the waste-to-energy (WtE) sector.
Victor has over thirty years of financial industry experience, including working as a Chief Investment Officer and/or as a senior executive in institutional asset management at several top-tier financial firms. His last hedge fund executive position was in London as the President of Capula Investment Management, the premier global fixed income hedge fund. Throughout the 1990s he was the Chief Investment Officer of Smith Barney Global Capital Management and Salomon Smith Barney Asset Management (in London). His portfolio management teams managed over $11 billion in institutional and mutual fund assets. Starting in 2000 Victor became the COO-Institutional of Citigroup Asset Management where he had responsibility for the institutional asset management business of Citigroup with more than $150 billion of institutional assets under management.
Earlier in his career at JP Morgan, Victor was the Head of Market Strategies Research in London. He also created and launched the world-renowned benchmark for performance measurement called the JP Morgan Global Traded Bond Indices. Victor also started the Fixed Income Index Derivatives business at JP Morgan.
After leaving Capula and returning to the USA, Victor was engaged in advisory work, being an “outside CFO,” and capital raising for several emerging growth companies. Also, from 2004 thru 2007 Victor ran his own asset management firm, TrinityCapM Ltd (TCM), after partnering with and selling a 20% stake to Monte dei Paschi di Siena, the oldest bank in the world.
Victor is an expert in asset allocation, econometrics, and financial modeling. Before coming to Wall Street Victor ran Project Link at the University of Pennsylvania for the 1980 Economics Nobel Laureate, Professor Lawrence R. Klein, serving as one of Klein’s closest protégés during the years leading up to his Nobel award. He was an Adjunct Professor of Economics at New York University. He has dozens of published papers in journals as prestigious as the Scandinavian Journal of Economics, Journal of International Securities Markets, and Financial Analysts Journal, as well as in books specializing in International Economics and Finance.
