Louisiana Green Fuels Fund Updates > LGF EPC Guarantee
Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development
While Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards has been vocal in his support for the project and LGF was the single largest beneficiary in this year’s Private Activity Bond roll forward allocation ($250mm out of $393mm available, with $1.3bn in applications), the project site has also benefited from a direct grant from the Louisiana Department of Transport and Development.
The Port of Columbia, site of the Louisiana Green Fuels project, was granted $15mm by the LA DOT to make accessibility upgrades including;
- Road upgrades to help improve access for heavy construction traffic
- A 37-car rail spur which will give direct access to the Union Pacific mainline which runs adjacent to the site. This will allow the Off-taker, one of the largest truck stop operators in the US, direct access to the plant with their own rail car fleet.
- A rail overpass and a highway underpass that will allow trucks carrying the wood waste feedstock to the plant to cross both Highway 165 and the rail line safely.
While yet another sign of support from the State of Louisiana for the LGF project, these improvements will also enhance the operation of the plant, improve the safety of the site, and create local jobs.
